1. Purpose
This Code sets forth the ethical and professional standards expected of all individuals affiliated with the Jordanian American Business Council (JABC). It ensures that the Council’s activities are carried out with integrity, transparency, and accountability across all levels of engagement—locally, regionally, and internationally.
2. Scope
This Code applies to all persons acting in an official capacity for or on behalf of JABC, including:
- Board of Directors and Board Members
- Sector Committee Chairs and Members
- Regional Representatives and Delegates
- Program Coordinators, Consultants, and Strategic Partners
All affiliated personnel are expected to uphold this Code in the course of their duties and public representation of the Council.
3. Principles of Professional Conduct
- 3.1 Act honestly, transparently, and in good faith at all times.
- 3.2 Uphold the mission, vision, and values of JABC in all professional activities.
- 3.3 Conduct oneself with cultural sensitivity, diplomacy, and mutual respect.
- 3.4 Maintain a high standard of professionalism, objectivity, and integrity.
- 3.5 Represent JABC ethically in all engagements, communications, and appearances.
4. Conflict of Interest
- 4.1 Avoid situations that create actual or perceived conflicts between personal interests and JABC responsibilities.
- 4.2 Disclose any potential conflict of interest to the Board or Executive Committee promptly.
- 4.3 Abstain from decisions where a conflict of interest exists unless authorized in writing by the Board.
5. Confidentiality
- 5.1 Protect confidential or sensitive information obtained through involvement with JABC.
- 5.2 Do not disclose, use, or share confidential information for personal, financial, or third-party gain.
- 5.3 Confidential obligations extend beyond the duration of official affiliation with JABC.
6. Compliance with Law
- 6.1 Abide by all applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where JABC operates.
- 6.2 Uphold anti-bribery, anti-corruption, anti-fraud, and data protection laws, including but not limited to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
- 6.3 Do not participate in or condone illegal, fraudulent, or unethical activities.
7. Anti-Discrimination & Inclusivity
- 7.1 Treat all individuals with fairness and dignity, regardless of nationality, race, gender, religion, age, ability, or political belief.
- 7.2 Promote an inclusive environment across all Council programs, events, and communications.
- 7.3 Avoid discriminatory, harassing, or exploitative behavior in any form.
8. Public Representation & Use of Identity
- 8.1 Only individuals authorized by the Board may speak publicly, issue statements, or enter into agreements on behalf of JABC.
- 8.2 Use of JABC’s name, logo, materials, or brand must be pre-approved in writing by the Executive Committee.
- 8.3 Do not misrepresent your role, title, or authority within the organization.
9. Governance & Responsibility
- 9.1 Attend scheduled meetings, contribute constructively to discussions, and fulfill assigned responsibilities with diligence.
- 9.2 Notify the Board of any absence, change in status, or inability to carry out duties.
- 9.3 Act in the best interest of the Council, free from undue external influence.
10. Reporting & Violations
- 10.1 Suspected breaches of this Code should be reported confidentially to the JABC Executive Committee.
- 10.2 Allegations will be reviewed fairly, and disciplinary actions—up to removal—may apply.
- 10.3 JABC reserves the right to revise or expand this Code in line with evolving global standards.
This Code is a living document and reflects JABC’s commitment to professionalism, diplomacy, and ethical global engagement. All affiliated individuals are expected to read, understand, and uphold these standards.
